Alastair Moseley

In a career spanning over 30 years in civil engineering and water and environmental management, Alastair has served as the president of top industry body CIWEM (Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management) and advised the government’s chief scientist on flooding matters. He received a personal thank you from David Cameron for his work during the 2014 floods and continues to remain on the SAGE panel.

 

Alastair has appeared often as an environmental affairs spokesman on national and regional radio and television. He is regularly invited to chair UK conferences on water and environmental management issues and writes thought pieces for the trade and Government press.

 

He has been responsible for the scoping, development and delivery of a number of significant projects including regional sewerage capital investment programmes, sewerage and water treatment projects and pollution investigation programmes up to £180m in value.

 

Alastair is now Honorary Vice President of CIWEM and is a member of the Professional Standards Committee. He also leads the Institutions Tomorrows Water Competition, the winner of which is the UK's entry for the annual International Stockholm Junior Water Prize. Alastair is a non executive Director of British Water and chair of The Future Water Association Innovation Group.


He is passionate about education and committed to helping bring water conservation issues into the national curriculum. He is currently working a leading UK University to develop a post graduate training programme for officials working in water and environment regulation. Alastair also gives lectures on water environmental affairs to Universities, Colleges and Schools.

 

Alastair specialises in technical authoring for tenders and pre-qualification documents; professional development of staff and capacity building; and raising the profile of businesses in the Sector through thought leadership on water and environmental affairs. He is also an experienced expert witness in water-related legal disputes.
